Edinburgh Direct Aid International is embarking on what we think is a world first……
Digital Direct Aid
When our volunteer David Hamilton was in Kharkiv earlier this year he met local Ukrainian Member of Parliament, Maria Mezentseva MP. Maria also runs a charity in Kharkiv and explained the challenge that thousands of Internally Displaced children are having in receiving an education.
With so much displacement, schools are full and, if they don’t have bomb shelters are totally closed.
Maria explained that with so little physical space to teach children, many are having to remotely learn at home and while the Ukrainian internet infrastructure can support this. Many children are lacking the hardware to do so. Access is limited to squinting at a small phone screen, a phone often shared with a parent or a sibling. Its far from ideal.
Using funds previously raised to support children in Ukraine, EDAI has made an intial purchase of 62 tablets for children. The tablets have been sourced in Ukraine, supporting the economy, with instructions and support in Ukrainian language. This approach also simplifies the logistics of getting tablets to Ukraine and represents exceptional value through currency exchanges.
As a consequence we are able to supply tablets for just less than £150 each- a fraction of their UK price.
The reaction has been incredible…
Please help more kids like these with their education, prospect and chances by considering Gifting them a Tablet
The tablets cost us £150 each and as we are an all volunteer charity with tiny overheads, that is what we are able to offer to you. We do realise that £150 is a lot of money so have offered more affordable 1/4 tablet opportunities where you can contribute to our Tablet scheme with others.
We are also seeking corporate sponsors to match fund devices and would be delighted to speak to you if thats of interest. Please contact us through this form.
