EDA is putting together a facility to allow donors to make a £150 donation, a donation that will be used to purchase a tablet for a child.
Where it is different to most other charity gifts such as “Gift a Goat” is that the tablet is real. It is not symbolic of a fund donation, does not have management costs taken off etc. “You buy a tablet; a child gets a tablet.”
Underpinning this is a mechanism that will encourage children who receive a donated tablet to record and upload a personalised thankyou message (naming the donor) that will be sent via EDA to the donor. We do not know of any other charity that is delivering ‘Direct Digital Aid’ and we think this could be a world first.
We have also provided a facility for donors to buy quarter shares in tablets to meet their gifting budget. After purchases we will ask you permission to claim Gift Aid on your donation which can mean a further 25% toward EDAIs work.
